The primary source of revenue for road improvements come from the disbursement of the Michigan Transportation Fund. In addition to the MTF Revenues, most of the primary road system is eligible for additional funding through federal and state programs for construction projects. The newly voted countywide road millage will also be utilized to fund primary road construction and maintenance improvements. Countywide road millage revenues generated within a township will only be spent on road improvements within that township.

Within the limits of the MTF funding allocation, the Road Commission provides a limited resurfacing and construction program for local paved roads. The Road Commission has relied on the Townships and/or residents to cover the costs for subdivision resurfacing and local road reconstruction projects (gravel to paved).
